Take a break and watch Breakout!

Since 1999, Extreme Backyard Wrestling (EBW) has been terrorizing the backyards of San Antonio, Texas with their particular form of violence and entertainment. Though EBW ended in 2006, they reformed and re-branded as Breakout Wrestling in 2020 and have been making their presence known on the Internet one episode at a time.

Wrestling in a professional ring, Breakout has produced over 15 weekly episodes since Season One began and delivered one super-show called "War for the World." Now into their second season Breakout Wrestling shows no signs of slowing down and has began inter-promotional matches with fellow backyard wrestling company, West Texas Underground. Breakout Wrestling's weekly shows run like a well-oiled machine, thanks to slick production, entertaining segments, fluid commentating and hard-hitting matches. Although not all matches are going to be five stars, Breakout Wrestling has some of the best underrated talent today in the backyard, as seen in their recent main event when Ace took on Sean Morrigan in a highly physical and technical match.

The match-up was something to marvel at for those who love classic grappling and submission based wrestling. Both competitors went toe-to-toe as they traded holds and locks in an exhausting ten minute main event bout. Escaping a near pinfall, Morrigan was victorious after he pinned Ace following a devastating knee-buster for the finish. We here at the Backyard Wrestling Link can't wait for the rematch!

Additionally, we really enjoyed the fluid production of the episode and the entertaining dialogue between the commentators. I enjoyed the humorous masked characters and appreciated the interview segments with EBW host Mona. Being from San Antonio there is a definite Mexican or luchadore vibe to the show as well, with several wrestlers employing lucha elements in their gear style and gimmicks. I really look forward to see how wrestlers such as Mickey Maxxwell, Red X-Dark and Helleeun develop in the upcoming seasons. Additionally, the prospect of inter-promotional events with West Texas Underground are also peaking our interest. We here at the Backyard Wrestling Link want to see Morrigan and Ace make an appearance at another well-known Texas company, Extreme Showdown Wrestling.

Despite having a nice ring and decent entrance way, Breakout Wrestling could benefit from a couple upgrades in their set-up. I would recommend purchasing or creating your own ring apron and adding more elements to your entrance way set-up. A couple more sheets to cover it around or some flags printed with your logos could give the entrance way a slicker look. Additionally, I found that some of the wrestlers were wearing street clothes and could benefit from making up their own t-shirts or working on their look. Printing up some designs on transfer paper or purchasing some cheap custom shirts and gear from Aliexpress could give the competitors a more authentic look. Lastly, wrestlers such as Serpent shouldn't be wearing Chuck Taylor high-top's and could benefit from boots more suitable to his look. Besides, that's Broken Saynt's style anyways!

On the horizon Breakout Wrestling will be producing a second show called EBW Dark for all their subscribers on YouTube. Can't wait for that!
