One of the greatest mysteries to grace the backyard wrestling community has been the identity and story behind the original Backyard Wrestling Link webmaster, Daz.
I used to talk to Daz weekly for years when I was in high school through e-mail yet I never gained an idea of who the person was or what they looked like. Daz, as we knew, was from Australia, and presumably in his early twenties.
Daz created several installments of the Backyard Wrestling Link before passing it on to various members of the Message Board. In my opinion, the Backyard Wrestling Link was never the same after he passed on the website to new webmasters. Over half a dozen teams of webmasters came after Daz and the Backyard Wrestling Link eventually became a Message Board centric community with the website falling into obscurity.
The question remains!
Who was Daz?
What did he look like?
Why did he start the Backyard Wrestling Link?
Why did he pass over the responsibilities of BYWL Webmaster?
Was he being contacted by legal representation at all due to the controversial nature of BYW?
Do you still have your old videotapes you used to trade for?
What have you been doing the last twenty years?
Hundreds of questions remain for the elusive Backyard Wrestling personality known only as DAZ.
