Before the backyard wrestling craze exploded into America (and therefore the world) there existed a group similiar to BYW called the National Wrestling Federation (NWF).
Beginning in 1984, this group of youths (from ages 12 to 16) gained national recognition for their public access television show, eventually expanding into 20 markets including Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles and New York. From humble beginnings in a basement with mattresses, these kids expanded to a homemade ring and eventually to a full size professional wrestling ring.
